Healthcare InnoMatch Finale 2022: Innovations Adopted at Speed, at Scale

CHI Innovate: Healthcare InnoMatch Finale 2022
Singapore, 9 September 2022
Centre for Healthcare Innovation, CHI Auditorium

Healthcare Innovations, Adopted at Speed and at Scale
Nordic Innovation House Singapore is honoured to be a Collaborating Partner for the Healthcare InnoMatch 2022. Organised by the Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI), Temasek Foundation, Ministry of Health (MOH), and in partnership with Singapore healthcare clusters – SingHealth Services (SHS), National University Health System (NUHS) and National Healthcare Group (NHG).

This year, the Healthcare InnoMatch is seeking solutions that can enhance patient care and deliver positive health outcomes with the theme: Delivering Care Beyond Hospital Walls. This encompasses solutions that bridge the gap between hospital and home/community; including preventive and predictive care, the transition of care and patient activation for better self-management of care.

Successful proposals will obtain funding support to demonstrate their solutions in operational environments and will receive further endorsement from the partner healthcare clusters upon successful validation of the results of pilot implementation. The challenge platform aims to bridge the market adoption gap and allow patients early access to new and emerging healthcare innovations to address critical healthcare needs.

Healthcare InnoMatch Finale 2022
On September 9th, Nordic Innovation House Singapore attended the ‘live’ in-person finale of Healthcare InnoMatch 2022 hosted by CHI, where eight finalists (chosen out of 256 startups and SMEs across 32 countries) pitched their solutions and conquered a 7-minute rapid-fire of questions from an esteemed panel of healthcare leaders in Singapore. Ultimately, up to six teams will be awarded S$2.4 million (S$400,000 each) in funding to demonstrate proof of value, a spot in the CHI Start-up Enterprise Link (CHISEL) programme for test-bedding of solutions and foster collaborative opportunities with Singapore's public healthcare clusters.

Meet the Judges:

  • Mr Alan Goh,  Assistant Chief Executive, Integrated Health Information Systems (IHiS)

  • Prof Lee Chien Earn, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (Regional Health System), Singapore Health Services (SHS)

  • Mr Lim Hock Chuan, Head, Programmes, Temasek Foundation

  • Mr Chua Song Kim, Deputy Chief Executive, National University Health System (NUHS)

  • Mr Colin Lim, Chief Information Officer & Group Director (Infocomm Technology and Data), Ministry of Health (MOH)

  • Prof Eugene Fidelis Soh, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (Integrated Care), National Healthcare Group (NHG)

The judging panel included senior management and domain experts from the partner healthcare clusters. During the finale, each judge assessed and prompted questions to each finalist about their business model, product capabilities and scalability, current challenges and most importantly, what sets them apart from others in the market.

So, what are the judges looking for in this year’s challenge?

“The few key things I am looking for… the potential to be really transformative, not just in terms of the product itself, but in terms of its ability to be spread and scaled, and the ease of usability across the various sectors. Because as we move out into the population, there will be different settings and the ability to transcend in a particular setting.” – Prof Lee Chien Earn, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (Regional Health System), Singapore Health Services (SHS)

“Likewise to what Prof Lee Chien Earn has mentioned. How to ensure when we have these solutions, they are actually able to help us with timely interventions… so they can not just provide quality care but also in terms of improving health as it is. Hence, the spread… and the beyond the hospital into the community, into the individuals and we are going to see some innovative ideas out of this.'“ – Mr Chua Song Kim, Deputy Chief Executive, National University Health System (NUHS)

Here are the eight finalists with innovative, market-ready or near market-ready solutions to address critical and emerging healthcare needs:

  • NuClam – A patented neuroscience technology proven to reduce stress and improve sleep without drugs.

  • FathomX – An AI Assistant that improves the mammogram screening procedure by enhancing both accuracy and efficiency.

  • Booguu –Aspire Motion Connect is a wearable remote therapeutic solution using a single sensor to help patients achieve therapeutic outcomes.

  • Meracle – Manages chronic respiratory conditions by increasing the availability of medication delivered into the lungs.

  • QuantumTX – QTX Magnetic Mitohormesis is a device that provides safe and easy muscle activation, improving users’ fitness, function and independence.

  • CoNex Healthcare – PreSAGE® is a privacy-preserved eldercare-monitoring platform with fall prediction capabilities.

  • Kinexcs – KIMIA Recover is an AI-driven digital health platform with a wearable that enables and empowers Total Knee Replacement patients for mobility and a better quality of life.

  • US2.AI– A mobile device that automates the fight against cardiovascular disease with machine learning.

While judges deliberated the final results, CHI invited last year’s winners – Articares and Rootally AI to share their experiences and current healthcare transformation journey with the hospitals and healthcare partners.

Also during the session, both in-person and online audience were encouraged to vote for their favourite innovation among the eight teams. PreSAGE® by CoNex Healthcare was crowned most popular solution and an ‘Audience Favourite’ for Healthcare InnoMatch 2022. They have developed a fall prevention technology, which has been useful in preventing falls within a hospital setting and in a home setting, there are significant deviations in the biomarkers and PreSAGE® tracks their behaviour patterns in order to predict falls. This enables the care team to track these changes, and prevent a fall days before it occurs.
