About the Engagement

NIH-SV is seeking a Project Manager to lead the analysis phase of a strategic development project aimed at strengthening and future-proofing NIH’s role as a shared Nordic platform in the U.S. innovation ecosystem.

This engagement will establish a data-driven foundation for future strategic decisions, by identifying stakeholder needs, evaluating current offerings, and uncovering opportunities for growth, relevance, and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the analysis phase (May–September 2026) with full ownership of scope and delivery

  • Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including:

  • Stakeholder interviews across both existing and prospective members and partners (including startups, corporates, investors, public stakeholders, universities, governmental and non-governmental organizations and other relevant ecosystem actors)

  • Surveys and structured data collection

  • Ecosystem and benchmark analysis

  • Map stakeholder needs, expectations, and pain points

  • Evaluate NIH-SV’s current services, value proposition, and positioning

  • Identify gaps, opportunities, and best practices across comparable ecosystems

  • Assess demand and feasibility of potential initiatives, including:

  • Physical space expansion and partnerships

  • Event strategy and formats

  • Service portfolio expansion (e.g. advisory, marketing, legal support)

  • Synthesize findings into clear, structured insights and actionable strategic recommendations

  • Present outputs to key stakeholders, including the NIH Board and Nordic partners

Expected Deliverables

Final report to the NIH Board of Directors to support implementation and long-term sustainable scaling, including:

  • Stakeholder insights and needs assessment

  • Benchmark and ecosystem analysis

  • Assessment of current NIH-SV offerings and positioning

  • Strategic recommendations across:

  • Service portfolio development

  • Stakeholder engagement

  • Operational improvements

  • Positioning and future direction

Profile & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, project management, or research-driven roles

  • Strong analytical capabilities (qualitative and quantitative)

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex analysis into clear strategic recommendations

  • Experience with startups, innovation ecosystems, or international stakeholders is an advantage

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Self-driven, structured, and comfortable operating in a multi-stakeholder Nordic environment

Compensation

  • The Project Manager will be engaged on a fixed-fee basis for the duration of the analysis phase.

  • Total compensation is expected to be up to USD 50 000, depending on experience, scope, and proposed approach.

Practical Details

  • Location: Silicon Valley / Hybrid (the Project Manager is expected to be frequently at NIH during the project)

  • Duration: May– September 2026

  • Scope: Project-based contract (independent engagement)

  • Engagement type: Project-based independent contractor engagement (1099)

  • Time commitment: This is a project-based engagement and is not expected to require full-time commitment. The Project Manager will have flexibility in structuring their time, aligned with project milestones and deliverables.

  • Extension: The engagement may be extended to subsequent phases through 2027

  • Work authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
