Clean Energy Market Entry Program

Nordic Innovation House NY is excited to be launching Nordic Spark 2023, powered by the Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIP) at Stony Brook University - an early-stage clean energy virtual accelerator program for Nordic startups entering the US market.

In the United States, clean energy has been made a big priority for both the US government, in New York State, New York City.  Likewise, the private sector is rapidly looking for innovative solutions for energy infrastructure, energy efficiency, transportation, water & wastewater, air & environment materials, to manufacturing/industrial, agriculture, and recycling & waste are in great demand.

This 6-month accelerator program will help Nordic startups tackle the basics of US market entry, get a deep understanding of how the US clean energy sector works, be introduced to key ecosystem organizations and individuals, work 1-on-1 with mentors and advisors to develop a product-market fit, network and meet with other startups in the same space, as well as investors, executives, experts, and others.

Nordic startups will also receive additional support through Nordic Innovation House, Nordic Trade Organizations, the Nordic community on the Hub and more.  Nordic startups will gain added support and market visibility through NIH NY marketing channels, initiatives, and events.

Included in the program fee is NIH NY virtual membership upon completion of the program.

Through this clean energy market-entry accelerator program, you will receive:

  • Workshops and individual personal support - Get the chance to work through the challenges your start-up is facing with others. Gain insight into what it takes to do business in the US on areas from legal, regulatory, employment, tax, to connecting with investors, partners, and customers. Get an overview of the US clean energy industry and how it operates then get a deep dive on New York clean energy sector.

  • Investor and customer pitch training -  You will receive help in refining your narrative and messaging in this highly competitive market. Practice your skills in pitching your business-ideas to potential customers, partners, and investors.

  • Mentoring - You will meet weekly with our top mentors, and advisors from the clean energy industry. During both group and individual sessions our advisors and mentors share their knowledge to help your start-up accelerate and grow.

  • Networking support - Our team will assist you in making connections in the clean energy business ecosystem in the US - virtually.

  • Membership to Nordic Innovation House – Build on your success through the program by accessing tools and resources to get your business established in the US through Nordic Innovation House membership, including a virtual address, access to office space, our online community platform, and more.

  • Invitations to Events in New York – you’ll receive invitations to exclusive and public events related to the clean energy sector hosted by us and our partners.

Who is Nordic Spark for?

  • Your start-up is a good fit for Nordic Spark if most of these descriptions fit you:

    • Nordic clean energy startups with global potential and ambitions

    • Strong entrepreneur team with the skills to succeed. Driven, open to learn, humble and able to execute

    • High potential and scalable business

    • Desire to engage the US clean energy sector, to learn and to build valuable relationships

    • Founding and/or C-level teams. We recommend two people from each company

    • You have an existing business in the Nordics with traction or a market-ready product for the US

  • What is the right timing for Nordic Spark?
