It has been a busy fall in Nordic Innovation House, with a lot of celebration, hard work and some changes. Here are some of the highlights of all the events!
We celebrated our first year as Nordic Innovation House in October with almost 200 friends and community members. What a party it was and for a good reason, our growth rate follows the famous Silicon Valley hockey stick model: A stream of new members are joining and we have now 127 members (startups, enterprises and VCs) in our Nordic community, two houses for co-working in Ramona Street and also some desks available in San Francisco. We are delighted to see how well the local innovation ecosystem has adopted and warmly welcomed us. Thank you all for your valuable support!
Nordic Innovation House continues to be a destination for companies on inspirational visits, government institutions from all over the world as well as startups and companies in the validation and establishment phases. We have been happy to welcome and share our story and insights to a number of business schools, companies, universities, and accelerators. Please continue to spread a word about our Nordic home base in Palo Alto, and keep us in mind when planning a trip to SF Bay Area!
In October we finalized the last part of an acceleration program for research projects to commercial business, and in November 12 tech startups from Sweden and Norway participated in our Tech Incubator TINC program. These programs offer immersion experiences into Silicon Valley as a location and a mindset, as well as training and mentoring.
The Nordic Startup ecosystem is strengthening here in Silicon Valley and all over the world. Follow hashtag #Nordicmade which showcases global Nordic startup ecosystem and success stories. "Although the Nordic countries represent less than 4% of the total European population, they account for 26% of all exit businesses over the past five years, and have the highest per capita number of billion dollar-valued companies, surpassed only by Silicon Valley.” says Nordic Startup Bits 11/27/2015.
I started as a new community manager here in Nordic Innovation House in mid October. From day one it has been a fun and fast rollercoaster - and I can see that the coming year 2016 is gonna be just as energizing and inspiring!
